A meal from a previous event

Master’s Table serves two free community meals per month (except where the schedule of the church is prohibitive). When serving our meals we do not ask questions. If you come for a meal, then we believe that you need a meal. We do collect some data – male/female, and what town you live in. This information is used to apply for grants and key funding for our organization.

Meals Are Served Two Ways:

Come Inside

Coming inside has more benefits. Guests are able to browse our giveaway tables, which can have canned goods, household items, shoes, jackets, magazines and other donated goods.

We have Traveler On A Mission once a month. Traveler On A Mission gives away personal items, soap, cleaners, adult underwear, socks, and many other necessary items.

A nurse from Griffin Hospital, Maggie, also comes once a month and takes blood pressure. She also talks to the guests about their immediate needs and makes referrals to health organizations for them.

Lastly, those who come inside get the chance to interact with the staff and the other guests. Social contact is very important, and the meal is a chance to sit down and see or make friends. Guests are allowed to eat their meals on the premises and we provide water as well.

Drive Up

If you choose to drive up, there’s less items and people to interact with, but your meal(s) will be delivered to your car.

If you show up before the meal is served, you will be directed to park in a line by one of our volunteers. Another volunteer will come around and ask how many people you have, and give out tickets. We use these tickets to keep track of approximately how many meals are needed for drive up. When you pull up to get your meals, the tickets will be collected.

When the meal is served, cars will be directed to drive up one by one, and meals will be either placed in the passenger seat or back seat as directed, or handed to a non-driving passenger.

If you have questions about our services or if you have need to order more than 2 meals, we ask that you contact us ahead of time to let us know. Please reach out to either masterstablect@gmail.com or by call Jim at 203-685-4428.

Metrics

Master’s Table serves over 3,500 meals per year. That is 190 to 250 meals per event.

The towns we most commonly serve are Ansonia, Derby, Shelton, Seymour, Oxford, and Beacon Falls.

The majority of our guests are seniors, but we have noticed a rise in young families attending.

Production

All the food produced by Master’s Table is purchased for the meals and prepared by qualified chefs who volunteer their time.

All volunteers who handle food must wear hair nets and gloves.

On occasion, restaurants donate trays of food as well.
